Benalmádena
Benalmádena is one of the most beautiful coastal towns on the Costa del Sol coast. It is divided into three parts – the traditional Andalusian village of Benalmádena Pueblo, the bustling Puerto Marina harbor, and the beach area with plenty of attractions. There is a beautiful Parque de la Paloma park, landmarks such as Castillo de Colomares, and most importantly, breathtaking views of the entire coast if you take the cable car to the top of the hill. Benalmádena is definitely worth a trip, whether for families, couples, beach restaurant lovers, or nature and mountain hiking enthusiasts.
You can reach Benalmádena from Málaga by car in 10 minutes, or comfortably by train. From Bahia de Casares you are in Benalmádena in 55 minutes. In case of a full day trip, you won’t know where to go first, but here are our recommendations:

Butterfly Park (Mariposario de Benalmádena) – A beautiful tropical park with more than 1,500 butterflies flying freely around visitors. A great place NOT ONLY for families with children. The butterfly house is not large, but you can easily spend an hour watching butterflies, birds and turtles. Bring drinks, it’s hot and humid.
Benalmádena Cable Car (Teleférico Benalmádena) – A cable car that takes you to the top of Mount Calamorro. You can hike tourist trails and enjoy wonderful views of the entire Costa del Sol coast. There are bird of prey shows at the summit.
Parque de la Paloma – An extensive park with ponds, fountains and free-roaming animals such as ducks, peacocks and turtles. Children will find large playgrounds here and adults can enjoy a picnic on the grass.
Castillo de Colomares – A castle built in honor of Christopher Columbus, which looks like a medieval fortress. It is a unique architectural achievement with a fairytale atmosphere.
Benalmádena Pueblo (Old Town) – A typical Andalusian white village on a hillside with narrow streets, traditional architecture and beautiful sea views. You can also visit the local church Iglesia de Santo Domingo de Guzmán.

Puerto Marina – A beautiful harbor where you can walk past luxury yachts, shop in shops or enjoy food in one of the restaurants with sea views.
Selwo Marina – If you have children, they will enjoy a small but well-equipped amusement park with dolphins, penguins, parrots and other animals. It also offers live shows and animal interaction opportunities.
Sea Life Aquarium – An aquarium with marine life, including sharks, rays and various tropical fish. There’s an interactive touch pool for children where they can pet some sea creatures.
Bil-Bil Castle – A smaller castle with striking red architecture built in Arab style, located right on the coast. Today it serves as a cultural center and gallery.
